About The Photographer

Sean “Tungz Twisted” Black is the man behind Apparition Photography. Born in Edmonton, Sean is currently based out of Hamilton, Ontario. His alias “Tungz Twisted” is based on the idea of ‘speaking in tongues’ which is the gift of speaking in languages you’ve never learned and communicating with people of different dialects. As a graphic designer and photographer who draws, paints, and is involved in all things creative, Sean sees art as a gift in itself that transcends all language barriers.

Photography wasn’t always Sean’s main focus, but it has developed into a passion through his experiences while pursuing it. His background as a graphic designer first got him involved with photography. When designing banners and CD covers for clients, Sean was often given unprofessional pictures to work with. So instead, he offered to shoot the material himself. Sean discovered he had a natural eye and talent for photography, and hasn’t looked back since.  

Completely self-taught, Sean has done everything from beauty and high fashion to commercial and concept photography. His wild imagination lends itself towards more artistic shoots, with photography providing the canvas on which he can showcase his ideas. Sean’s shooting style initially started with simple artistic/conceptual shots, but as his client base grew, he had to adapt to their wide range of needs. Now he shoots everything from events and weddings to models and recording artists.

Sean’s photography is completely original; every shot has a unique look that captures the eye. If you are familiar with his work, a Tungz Twisted shot is instantly recognizable. Although inspired by creative photographers who think outside of the box such as Chase Jarvis, Matt Barnes, & Sean Getti, he is less involved in watching other’s work and more focused on his own productivity. Sean enjoys working with people like him, who aren’t afraid to push the envelope and bend the rules.
